AKA deceased, according to family and police

Jarryd Forbes has been killed as a result of a drive-by gunshot on Friday, February 10, 2023.
According to initial reports on Friday night, AKA was shot many times outside a renowned restaurant on Florida Road in Durban by unknown shooters.

"It is with immense regret that we recognise the demise of our dear son, and confirm his untimely and terrible passing on the evening of February 10, 2023," his parents, Tony and Lyn Forbes, wrote in a statement announcing his death.

"Our son was cherished, and he did so in return. In this time of sadness, we ask for your compassion, space, and time to gather as a family to plan the future days. "We appreciate you for your love and support thus far, and we ask that you keep us in your prayers and raise us up in the Lord," they concluded.

"On arrival, paramedics faced absolute chaos and a scene where two males, thought to be in their late 30s, received several gunshot wounds. "The first individual had received several gunshot wounds and exhibited no indications of life and was declared deceased at the spot," ALS paramedic Garrith Jamieson is quoted as saying by Business Day.

While the rapper died at the site, a second victim of the gunshot died later at a hospital from serious injuries, according to authorities.
